FEDERATE

Main project objectives

The FEDERATE project aims to collect and evaluate future trends, derive a common understanding (glossary), prepare and maintain a road-map, help to create a vibrant SDV community in Europe and furthermore, foster a European initiative and to orchestrate a strong open European collaborative community.

Work package structure

The project is executed in five work packages WP1 to WP5. The workflow and interactions between the different work packages and their agile iterations allow depicting the iterative, agile approach, matching the software projects in the SDV Ecosystem program.

PROJECT VISION The collaborative Open European SDV Ecosystem will help to solve burning societal issues with respect to providing clean, affordable and safe mobility. Successful implementation of the vision will contribute to the objectives of the European Green Deal and strengthen European chip and automotive sofware sovereignty.

PROJECT MISSION The project aims to bring together all relevant stakeholders of the mobility industry, the open-source software community, the semiconductor industry, and public authorities to accelerate the development of an SDV Ecosystem, to foster a vibrant European community and to orchestrate the SDV Research, Development and Innovation activities.

MAIN OBJECTIVE To enhance the global competitiveness of the European mobility and semiconductor industries in delivering SDV.

PROJECT COORDINATOR

AVL LIST GMBH (AVL) is the coordinator of the FEDERATE project, leads WP1 (Project Coordination), WP4 (Strategic Recommendations), and contributes to all work packages. AVL with its headquarter in Graz (Austria), is one of the world’s leading mobility technology companies for development, simulation and testing in the automotive industry, and other sectors. Drawing on its pioneering spirit, the company provides concepts, solutions and methodologies for a greener, safer and better world of mobility.

PROJECT COORDINATION CO-LEAD

VDI/VDE-IT Innovation + Technik GmbH supports FEDERATE by managing administrative project topics and acts as a manager for financial, legal, and administrative project management aspects. Together with AVL, the project management team coordinates the consortium and prepares the required reports, including the ongoing assessment of the project status against project objectives in order to achieve the project goals.

VDI/VDE-IT based in Berlin, is a R&I funding agency as well as a service and consulting firm working for various federal and state ministries, the European Commission as well as business and industry.
